Custom ear protection refers to earplugs or devices that are specifically moulded to fit the unique shape of your ear.
Custom ear protection is made from impressions of your ear canals, ensuring a snug, comfortable, and effective fit that over-the-counter options and is especially important for extended wear.

Continuous exposure to loud sounds over an extended period of time, such as noise generated at work for example, in a woodwork shop, can lead to noise induced hearing loss (NIHL).
Recreational activities that can put you at risk for NIHL include target shooting and hunting, snowmobile riding, listening to MP3 players at high volume through earbuds or headphones, playing in a band, and attending loud concerts. Harmful noises at home may come from sources including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and woodworking tools.
How custom ear moulds are made
You will require an initial consultation to discuss the type of ear plugs you require and a custom ear impression will be made. It is important to ensure your ears are clear of ear wax before this appointment.
The ear impressions will be send to a laboratory where they will create your personalised ear plugs based on your ear shape and size. This can take about 3-4 weeks. Once the custom ear plugs are received, the Audiologist will ensure they fit comfortably in your ears.

Custom Swim plugs
Swim ear plugs are custom in-the ear moulds crafted from medical grade silicone materials that are strong and durable and float in water.
They offer excellent protection for your ears while swimming or having a shower. They are ideal for those prone to ear infections after swimming and those with perforated ear drums. They are available in a variety of bright colours making them easy to find if dropped in water.
An optional connecting cord and laser mark personalisation is available on request.
Custom Sleep Plugs
Sleep ear plugs are custom in-the ear moulds crafted from soft silicone and extremely comfortable to wear at night.
They are available in a wide range of colours.
They are ideal for partners of people who snore, people who work shifts, students who want to concentrate without being disturbed by ambient noise and those who regularly travel on noisy trains.
Custom Noise Plugs
Solid Silicon ear plugs are custom in-the ear moulds crafted from soft silicon for comfort.
They are available in various colours and personalisation of your choice.
ProtectHear ear plugs are vented and have an acoustic filter which attenuates loud noise (29dB SNR reduction) but allows one to hear speech and use the telephone.
They are available as full shell or canal tip.
They are suitable for industry and factory use, shooting sports, musicians and music listeners.
Musicians Custom Plugs
Elacin ER filtered Noise plugs are designed for musicians who want protection from noise without distorting music.
They have individually calibrated filters to attenuate all frequencies.
They are available in 9dB, 15dB and 25dB attenuation filters.
9dB attenuation is ideal for vocalists, sound engineers and classical musicians.
15dB is ideal for most musicians.
25dB is ideal for rock musicians and loud concerts.
